土は本来、屋根や壁に必要な建築材料として立派な役目を果たしていた。しかし現代においては、安く早く現場を完成させるための新建材が誕生したため、建設現場で土を見かけることもなくなった。
Earth was once a fundamental building material, serving essential roles in roofs and walls.
But in today’s construction industry, the rise of synthetic materials—designed for speed and cost-efficiency—has made the presence of soil at building sites increasingly rare.

化学物質を含まない土は人体に優しく、再利用可能で環境負荷も少ない。更に調湿性、断熱性、防音性、防火性などにすぐれた自然素材である。
Free from chemical additives, natural earth is gentle on the human body, reusable, and environmentally friendly. It also offers excellent properties such as moisture regulation, thermal insulation, sound absorption, and fire resistance.

そこで今回は土の良さを再認識する第一歩として、オフィスのエントランスに洞窟のような土壁空間を挿入した。
As a small step to rediscover the value of this material, we created a cave-like earthen wall at the entrance of our office.

豊かな空間や自然を感じる空間を創造するための試行錯誤は続くが、土を使うことが一つの答えになり得るのではないだろうか。
Our exploration continues—seeking spaces that evoke richness and connect us to nature.
Perhaps, working with earth is one answer to that pursuit.
